Light from Light
Permanently Housed
I am pleased to announce my painting Light from Light
is permanently housed in the Fellowship Hall at Lake Burien Presbyterian
Church in Seattle, Washington.
“We absolutely love LIGHT FROM LIGHT. It is the dramatic exclamation
point in our fellowship hall. It masterfully integrates worship with
community life so as to enhance the notion that a disciple of Christ
enters worship on a Sunday morning and carries this into all of life.”
Rev. Dr. Tobin E.

University of Dallas Ministry Conference
Oct.
28-29, 2011
Exhibiting at Booth #303
I will be presenting the
following session:
Understanding
Contemporary Art & It’s Place in Worship
“Contemporary art is our own, the work of artists of our time and place, and
belongs in our celebrations as surely as we do. If liturgy were to incorporate
only the acceptable art of the past, conversion, commitment and tradition would
have ceased to live.”
Bishops’ Committee on the Liturgy
National Conference of
Catholic Bishops
To pass our beliefs to
future generations, we need to communicate to everyone, especially our youth, in
our contemporary visual language. This session will help you understand and
explore new ways to translate our rich symbolism, traditions and beliefs into
vibrant contemporary art. Learn ways to introduce art catechesis to broaden
understanding of new forms of expression, regardless of their age differences
and personal journeys. Let’s draw on the power of
our art to create awe inspiring
worship space to foster prayer.

Seeing the Word: A Visio Divina Retreat for Pastoral Ministers
This retreat is built on daily visio divina around
illuminations from The Saint John’s Bible. Taylor Morgan, a
scripture scholar, presents on developing the literal sense of scripture and
this coming summer I will be facilitating art-making sessions for their retreat.
This retreat provides daily experiences of visio divina that evoke an artful
response in participants; as well as formation toward the rhythm of visio
divina, Finally participants are equipped with a tool box that prepares them for
implementing Seeing the Word in their
home church. The benefits are both personal and communal.
